Training plans for famous Spanish running races
TERUN doesn't build a separate plan per race — it builds one sized to the distance, paced from your own running data, and periodized to your start date.
Whether it's a New Year's Eve San Silvestre, the 10K Valencia or a half-marathon support race, the training principle is the same: pick the plan for your race's distance below, and TERUN fills in the paces, the build-up and the taper from your current fitness.
10K
Spain's biggest running tradition is the San Silvestre: a 10K run on New Year's Eve, held in dozens of cities.
- San Silvestre Vallecana — Madrid, December 31, roughly 42,000 runners, Spain's largest and an IAAF Gold Label race.
- Cursa dels Nassos — Barcelona, December 31, Spain's second-largest year-end race.
- 10K Valencia — January, a world-record-setting course (including the women's 10K world record).
- Carrera de las Empresas Madrid — a corporate race with roughly 30,000 entries, August.
- San Silvestre Sevillana — Seville, December 31.
- Challenge BCN10K — Barcelona.
- Cursa El Corte Inglés — multiple cities, 10K/5K.
- 10K Bilbao (Campeonato de España 10K) — Bilbao.
- Zaragoza 10K (La Caixa) — Zaragoza.
- 10K Internacional Villa de Santa Pola — Alicante.
- San Silvestre Salmantina — Salamanca.
- Cursa de la Mercè — Barcelona, September.
- Cursa dels Bombers — Barcelona.
- Jean Bouin — Barcelona.
- RFEA Circuito Nacional de 10K — an 8-race national series (Seville, Oviedo, Valladolid, Madrid, Mataró, Mallorca, Albacete, Valencia).
- 10K Canillejas — Madrid.
- Vuelta al Coto de Doñana — a regionally well-known race.
- San Silvestre Alicantina — Alicante.
- San Silvestre Ourensana — Ourense.
- San Silvestre Vigo — Vigo.
- San Silvestre Malagueña — Málaga.
- 10K Ciudad de Alcobendas — Madrid region.
- 10K Santander — Santander.
- 10K A Coruña — A Coruña.
- San Silvestre de Las Palmas — Canary Islands.
- 10K Granollers — Granollers.
- San Silvestre Ibicenca — Ibiza.
The 10K training plan is built for exactly this: short and intense, with paces that have to be right.
5K
- Carrera de la Mujer — a nationwide women's race series, 5K/10K, held in multiple cities.
This is a straight match for the adaptive training plan — there's no separate 5K page, so set 5K as your goal distance there.
Part of a half-marathon weekend
- Media Maratón de Madrid Weekend — Madrid, 10K support race.

Other well-known distances
- Behobia–San Sebastián — technically 20 km, but one of Spain's best-known popular races. Use whichever of the 10K or half marathon plan is closer to your timeline.
Same principle, every distance. TERUN doesn't look at your race's name — it looks at your own pace and heart-rate data and how much time is left until your start date. Pick the plan closest to your race's distance and it periodizes toward it automatically.
