Frequently asked questions about TERUN

Short, direct answers — on what TERUN is, how the plan works, what data it uses, and how it compares to a fixed plan or other apps.

About TERUN

What is TERUN?

TERUN is a free running app that builds a periodized training plan (5K to marathon) from your own running data, recalculates it from your current fitness every week, and tells you honestly whether your race goal is realistic.

Is TERUN free?

Yes. The training plan itself isn't behind a paywall or subscription.

Who is TERUN for?

Runners training independently toward a goal, from 5K to marathon, who want their plan to move with their data instead of following a fixed template.

Training plans

What is an adaptive training plan?

A plan that re-plans every week from your measured fitness: paces move with you as you improve and ease off when you're tired or injured, instead of being locked in from day one.

What are the downsides of a fixed PDF running plan?

A PDF plan is written once from assumptions and never adjusts. If you progress faster or slower than expected, the paces stay the same, so easy runs drift too hard or quality sessions become too easy.

How does an adaptive plan compare to a static training plan?

A static plan fixes paces from a goal time; an adaptive plan like TERUN derives paces from your actual pace and heart-rate data and recalculates them after every run. More on the adaptive training plan page.

What race distances does TERUN support?

5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon, each with a periodized base, build, peak, and taper phase. See the 10K, half marathon, and marathon plans.

Can I combine cross-training with my running plan?

Yes. Cycling and swimming give a small, conservative boost to your fitness estimate, and strength training is folded in as a recovery load, so the plan reflects your whole training week.

Race goals

How do I calculate whether my race goal is realistic?

TERUN projects your current fitness trend forward to race day and compares it to your goal time. If the projection falls short, it gives you a time your trend actually supports. See is my race goal realistic.

Is a sub-2-hour half marathon achievable for me?

That depends on your current fitness trajectory, not your ambition. Connect your running data and TERUN projects whether your trend supports a sub-2-hour half marathon on your goal date.

Data & privacy

What data does TERUN read from Garmin or Strava?

Only the minimum needed to build a plan: your activity list with date, sport type, moving time, distance, heart rate, and cycling power when available. It doesn't read messages, followers, or private notes.

Can I disconnect Garmin or Strava later?

Yes, at any time. That immediately deletes the stored access token. Full detail on the support & privacy page.

Comparing apps

What's the best running app for beginners?

One that lets your buildup increase gradually based on your actual progress. TERUN does this automatically from your first few runs instead of following a fixed beginner template. More on the best running app page.
